Our story

Older than any job board.

Kat is the ancient Egyptian word for work — in use thousands of years before LinkedIn, and long before the idea of looking for a job online existed at all. We picked the name on purpose.

Africa's relationship with work didn't start with a Western job board, and we don't think the future of how Africans find work should be borrowed from one either. The tools available today — built primarily for the US and European markets — treat the African job seeker as an afterthought: a smaller market to expand into later, not a market to design for first.

We built Kat the other way around. WhatsApp first, because that's where the job search already happens for most people. Local job boards first, because that's where the real roles are. And a single guiding principle threaded through everything: the agent works for you, not for the platform.

What we believe

Four things we won't compromise on.

Quality over noise

Kat doesn't forward every listing she finds. She only surfaces roles that genuinely match your profile — fewer, better options beat a flooded inbox.

You're always in control

Nothing gets sent to an employer, accepted, or declined without your explicit approval. Kat acts on your behalf — she never acts instead of you.

Built for Africa, not ported to it

Local job boards, local salary context, Naira-denominated advice, and a channel — WhatsApp — that's already part of daily life across the continent.

Free to start, always

Anyone can try Kat without a credit card. A real job search shouldn't have a paywall on the very first step.
